Blue Mountain Flycasters'

10th Anniversary Celebration

with Dave Hughes

It was 10 years ago - 21 February 1999 - that we came together to have the first meeting of our local, area Northeast Oregon flycasters and discuss the formation of our organization.

In celebration of ten years of fly fishing camaraderie, we invited the general fly fishing public to join us for a day of sharing fly fishing experiences with each other and Dave Hughes.

Dave Hughes, fly fishing author and editor joined the Blue Mountain Flycasters for our 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, 21 February 2009. Along with Dave we enjoyed the company of Tilda Runner, Oregon Council FFF president.

Dave is among the most widely published authors in fly fishing. He lives in Portland, Oregon. He will also be bringing along some of his publications to make autographed sale for those that maybe interested in meeting the author. Dave has authored and co-authored over 20 books on fly fishing and fly tying for trout, including his latest book, NYMPHS for STREAMS & STILLWATER.

Dave was founding president of Oregon Trout in 1983, was awarded life membership in Federation of Flyfishers (FFF) in 1985. He is an accomplished amateur entomologist and recently the editor of Fly Fishing & Tying Journal.

Dave made his morning presentation(s) beginning at 9:00, and covered the topics of - reading trout water, selecting trout flies and tactics for fishing over trout. After a noon time lunch break Dave conducted a bonus casting clinic on the Pendleton Recreation Center basketball court.

Thank you everyone, and particularly President Bob Wolfe for your part in putting this day and it's presentation together for all of us.
