Learning to fly fish is a life long adventure that can take you fishing
anywhere on earth. It generally takes 4 to 8 hours to cover the basics of
the sport and learn to cast a fly. At the BOW workshop we teach basic fly
fishing. Our participants will learn: tackle, rods, reels, lines, leaders,
knots. Insects fish feed on and the fly's that imitate them. Fly fishing
techniques for still water and streams. First we teach casting techniques
on grass, then on water. By the end of the day, everyone should be having
fun, and able to catch their dinner.

It is not necessary to have the highest dollar equipment that money can buy for catch lots of nice fish on a fly rod. To the contrary, you should size up your long term plans for fly fishing inorder to decide the -rod weight system- best suited for you. It is best to have a mentor guiding you through the equipment needed before you make your first purchase, because cheap generally just doesn't work well. BOW give you the opportunity to learn about the sport of each workshop that ODFW offers, have fun using -sizing up- their equipment for the course and your future outdoors activities.
