Blue Mountain Flycasters and Oregon Department of Fish
and Wildlife (ODFW) again will co-sponsor a Kids' Fishing Day in June this
year. This is a KID's fishing outing, not a fly fishing outing.
This event was open to the public, with special emphasizes on youth fishing, ages 5 - 15 with their parents/grandparents/guardians. We also expect every KID to be responsible for the ADULT that brings them out for this event.
We asked that if a child has their own, or a family
fishing rod-reel that could be used, they bring it with them. Fishing supplies will be provided by ODFW and Blue
Mtn. Flycasters according to need.
This year's event will be held on Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Umatilla National Forest pond on USFS Road 5412.
We will be set up to begin this fishing event at 9 a.m. -some folks do get started earlier. At 12:00 - High Noon - lunch of hot dog/ chips and cold beverages will served to all by the Blue Mountain Flycasters at our pondside mess tent.
Blue Mountain Flycasters will help each kid with the cleaning and icing of their catch. Last year we had kid's bringing some nice 12"-14" rainbows trout to our cleaning/ icing station. We thank Bob and the other Bob for their help at this job station over the past few years.
Our goal at this year's Kid' Fishing Day is to help children learn to fish, handle fish, clean fish and properly prepare fish for the trip back to camp or home for a fresh caught trout meal. We suspect there will be some just for fun long-line catch & release techniques used during the day. Our intentions are to have a fun fishing day with KIDS in accomplishing these goals.

Follow this link to the NOAA weather forecast for our Kids' Fishing Day.

We asked that adults not try to fish-out this pond until
the kids have their chance to catch or hook into some nice big trout.
Mom and Dad, please help the kids have their fun, then stand back and watch
their smiles.
