Magone Lake - is located in the Malheur National Forest, about 10 air miles due north of John Day, OR near Mt. Vernon. From Pendleton take US Hwy 395 south towards John Day/ Mt. Vernon. About 10 miles north of Mt. Vernon (Hwy 395 and Hwy 26 intersection) take a left onto USFS Road 36. Follow USFS Road 36 about 10 miles to Magone Lake Campground.

Handicap fisherman accessible.

Campground has drinking water (after freeze danger) and a concrete boat ramp. Boat speed limit is 10 mph.

The lake is about 50 acres in size and in places 100 feet deep.

Suggestion: don't creel a trout early in the day unless it is 16 inches long. Daily creel limit is five fish - rainbows, or brookies.
